Van Nelle is an historic boat with extensive documentation. Built in 1915 for the Van Nelle coffee, tea and tobacco company in Alkmaar by WF Stoel and Son, she plied their trade between Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Den Haag and other parts under Captain Slingerland until WWII when she was converted to carry water. This she did until finally sold out of service in 1991. After 5 other owners, we bought her in Loosdrecht in 2001 and after extensive work, sailed south to France. Since then she has carried us and our friends over 15,000 km throughout France including the Midi, Champagne, Burgundy, Bordeaux, Paris, WWI battlefields, Dunkirk and more, the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany visiting Paris, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Bruges, Ghent, Brussels, Lyon, Avignon, Toulouse, Maastricht, Liege, Agen, Beziers, Challon, Dijon, Rouen. Lille, Amiens, Delft, Leiden, Alkmaar, Verdun, Strasbourg and all the beautiful villages in between.
We have her original order and photos from after the launching, history of the captain, letters from servicing consultants and Burgomasters regarding home port moorings, historic images and much more. Probably the most extensive provenance of any ship. This is valuable to owners and prospective owners and fascinating for discussion.
